Senate Version of Budget Bill Does Not Contain Contribution Rate Shift Language
June 1, 2011

The Ohio Senate released its version of the budget bill yesterday and it does not contain language shifting contribution rates. The original proposal would have required a 2 percent shift of employer contributions to employees. The Ohio House Finance and Appropriations Committee removed language from the House version of the budget bill April 28.

Additionally, the bill also excluded language affecting the Board of Trustees’ discretion to set rates or the contribution rate changes for members in the law enforcement and public safety divisions. Once the Senate version of the budget is approved, a House/Senate conference committee will convene to resolve any differences in the two versions of the bill.
