Gatien Chosen Government Relations Officer
Will Oversee Government Outreach Activities

COLUMBUS --The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) today announced that Gordon Gatien has been named Government Relations Officer.
Gatien brings more than 18 years of state government experience, including 14 years at the at the Ohio Department of Commerce, most recently serving as the assistant director. Gatien also spent four years at the Ohio Department of Industrial Relations where he served as chief of communications and labor relations administrator. The Ohio Department of Industrial Relations was folded into the Department of Commerce in 1995.
As Government Relations Officer, Gatien will be responsible for outreach to the Ohio Legislature and the Ohio Congressional delegation.
Gatien earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from Capital University in Columbus.
With assets of more than $66 billion, OPERS is the largest public pension fund in Ohio and the 12th largest public pension fund in the U.S. In operation since 1935, OPERS provides retirement, disability and survivor benefits for public employees throughout the state. It serves nearly 936,000 members, including more than 166,500 retirees and beneficiaries.
