Refunding from the Traditional Pension Plan
If you leave OPERS-covered employment, you may refund your contributions rather than waiting for a retirement benefit.
What You Can Refund
- 100% of your own member contributions — always refundable
- A percentage of employer contributions based on years of service (0% to 67%)
Alternatives to Refunding
You may leave your account on deposit with OPERS. There is no penalty for doing so, and you retain eligibility for a future retirement benefit if you return to OPERS-covered employment.
See the Forms & Documents page to download refund application forms.
