OPERS Special Election Retirees to elect Board representative in Special Election
OPERS retirees will elect a representative to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and Ohio Deferred Compensation Board of Trustees to replace John Maurer who was recently elected to another four-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2018, but passed away before beginning that term.
Candidates Certified for Special Election
The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System has certified three candidates to run for one available retiree seat on the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and Ohio Deferred Compensation Board of Trustees in a special election.
The retiree selected will represent approximately 179,000 age-and-service, disability, defined contribution plan and re-employed retirees and serve a term beginning in May 2018 and ending Dec. 31, 2021.
Listed here are the certified candidates for the special election in alphabetical order:
- Ronald C. Alexander
- Charlene S. Powell
- Timothy C. Steitz

How to Cast Your Vote
If you're an OPERS retiree and are eligible to vote, a ballot will be mailed to your home address on Feb. 27. All votes must be received by 11:59 p.m., March 30.
The election results will be certified by the office of the Ohio Secretary of State on April 2, and will be approved by the OPERS Board at the April meeting.
